VIBE OUT TO “PATT” WITH DION IV

MUSIC|WAVYMOMENT

DION IV is a Canadian-born artist ready to make waves in the RnB scene. He recently released his single “PATT” which truly expressed his passion for his craft. He took a classic like “Party All the Time” and evolved it into a down tempo, modern anthem while still showcasing his range and skill. It’s refreshing to hear an artist be vulnerable on a track and unafraid to confront emotions we all have, but are too afraid to bring to the surface. DION IV is pushing the boundaries of RnB and also has Afro-Swing and Latin inspired music in his repertoire as well. Tune into DION IV as he has some exciting projects coming up in the new year.

We tapped in with DION IV and here’s what he said on his latest release:

How would you describe the music you typically create nowadays?

I like to be able to tell stories through the music in the most minimalistic yet rawest of ways. I like to expose thoughts that often govern our minds yet are not necessarily what we have the courage to say externally. I also love sonics and the development of music as a timeless gift that carries both inspiration and innovation to the art. Creating a space that can resonate with the listener and allow them to push the idea further with their own mind is what inspires the type of music I create nowadays.

What is your creative process like, especially in your most recent projects?

I enjoy contributing to the process from the very beginning. Having a true genuine connection with those involved with the projects is always necessary for me to have the reassurance that we are on the right path, and creating something special. I’d like to think I have a very colourful and detailed imagination. Everything I write about is either inspired by an event in my life or a conversation I’ve had that has inspired a deeper dive into heightened emotions and desires. Channeling deep-rooted memories and experiences make it possible to obtain the emotional undertones that are needed when working creatively. The writing is more on a conversational approach—conversations that I’ve had either directly or indirectly, yet those involved would know where I drew inspiration.

What Is The Message You Wish Listeners To Take Away From The Tracks?

I want to keep allowing listeners to connect with me through emotion and feeling as opposed to looking for relevancy in words. Although, if that is the case, then so be it. I feel as if there are many feelings that are universal and come from similar thought processes. People can’t process things in the same way, but they can understand through interpretation. I like to leave the space open enough for the listener’s own interpretation. The lights and aura of the room are set by me, but what goes on in that room is all up to the listener.

Any Exclusive information / announcements you got for the vibenextdoor,( Collabs, Giveaways, Events, Shows)

Look out for more work that pushes boundaries of R&B, this year is about stretching the canvas as far as genuine experience allows me to take it. Appreciate the love and the support, it’s been a journey in the background thus far, but now it’s time.
