St. Germaine brought some old school RnB vibes with his new track “Relationship Goals”! St. Germaine is an RnB inspired artist from Louisville, Kentucky. The track begins with a retro vibe paired with a current, modern flow that has you singing along with the catchy hook by the end of the intro. He exercises his versatility showing his singing and harmonizing skills in the first half and later evolves the song with his rapping; adding more heart and feel to the song as a whole. St. Germaine has an E.P. called “War Room” with more excellent vibes like this one.
We tapped in with St. Germaine and he speaks on the song and next steps in his career:
How would you describe the music you typically create nowadays?
I create R&B-centered bops and vibes based on my experiences/observations. I listen to all kinds of music, so you’ll hear various influences, but the foundation is definitely R&B.
What is your creative process like, especially in your most recent projects?
The creative process was interesting (in a good way) this time around. A lot of the songs started out as freestyles in my car. While driving I’d listen to beats and record voice memos or videos of me singing numerous melodies. I would finish writing at home, ofcourse, then record my demos before going to the studio to record the songs. Fun fact, 80% of the songs on the EP were produced by the amazing Jaydot, who also produced “Broken Promises” on Summer Walker’s new album.
What Is The Message You Wish Listeners To Take Away From The Tracks?
Writing this EP was very therapeutic for me. I want listeners to know that there is happiness after heartbreak. Love yourself, be optimistic, know that you’re resilient and know your worth!
