Usher Reminds Toronto Why He’s A Generational Talent During His Duo Sold Out Show

Usher arrived in Toronto for two back-to-back sold-out shows at Scotiabank Arena and delivered a sensational show.
The Atlanta singer has been on an exceptional legacy run in the past couple of years, with his legendary Vegas residency and Superbowl Performance. He’s also entertained the world with countless memes, a TinyDesk performance and a brand new album ‘COMING HOME’.
In support of his latest album and on the heels of his Superbowl performance, Usher brought the Past, Present and Future tour to Toronto.
The show is based on his 30-year career, bringing fans to the past, present and “future”.
The show kicked off with a fun DJ set that displayed an array of R&B hits to warm the crowd up. At one point the DJ asks what’s everyone’s favorite era of R&B and Toronto blew the roof off the building for the 90’s.
With a U-shaped stage backed with a moveable LED screen/stage, Toronto was ready for Usher.
With “Coming Home” kicking off the night, Usher emerged from the floor in an Undertaker-like outfit. He got the crowd quickly engaged throwing “Usher Bucks” into the audience.
During the past section of the show, Usher starts dancing with the 1993 version of himself. He then runs through his 90’s hits such as “My Way” and “U Make Me Wanna”. It appeared that the show was going to follow Usher through his career in order with ‘Usher’, ‘My Way’ and ‘8701’. However, as we arrived into the ‘Confessions’ era, “Yeah” glitches and sends the show into a jumping timeline.
In true Usher fashion, he starts to rollerskate around the stage with a bedazzled suit while singing and dancing. At this point, Scotiabank Arena has evolved into a full rollerskating club where he gracefully rolls into “Love In This Club”.
Tackling all his memes, he even did the “Watch this” from his Tiny Desk performance meme during “Confessions Pt 2”. He then jumps into the crowd during “There Goes My Baby” and walks over to the second stage with his DJ where a bar, and strip pole are waiting for more antics.
Usher shows love to the second half of Toronto by making drinks, taking shots and feeding cherries to the women around him.
He then brings Atlanta to Toronto and invites strippers on the pole while he throws more usher bucks. During this portion, he also pays homage to the city by playing Drake’s “Nice For What”.
He returned to the main stage to close out the show with “Yeah” which of course sent Toronto to level 100.
Usher spent the entire night flexing his discography and showing the number of hits and classics he has. Toronto recited every song to the top of their lungs and was reminded why Usher is a living legend.
