Nick Souza will make you move with ‘Perreo’

As the summer draws to a close, Nick Souza chooses to offer up a Latin banger to bid farewell to the season and the warm weather.

Perreo is a song built through many cultural influences. We are given dark and moody Toronto-style melodic content paired with danceable and energetic sounding South American Reggaeton drums. Souza and his producers Alejandro Rojas and Daniel Tortos are giving us a blend of vibes that feels brand new. This is their first release together and they’ve definitely set a strong standard while making a hell of a first impression. As if this never-before-seen bending of genres wasn’t enough, this unique and hard hitting track was brought to life visually by a beautifully cinematic and artistically shot video by the 97 Collective. Souza’s team has done an excellent job of intriguing their audience, leaving them excited for what the future holds for him and everyone else involved in this single.

Furthermore, Souza seamlessly switches back and forth between singing and rapping in Spanish, English, and Portuguese which is another crazy aspect about this song. This showcases how culturally diverse and well-informed his taste, style, and musical palette really is. His richness in multicultural expression and prowess in his ability to execute on it is something that’s very new in the music world; however, we anticipate seeing a lot more of it - especially from artists across Toronto and the GTA. With so many cultures in one place, it’s only natural that when artists and producers get in the studio these cultural influences manifest themselves in the music - and it’s proving to be one of the more exciting things happening in the business right now.

Nick Souza should definitely be an artist you keep your eye on: he’s a well-rounded talent always looking to push the boundaries of music and for someone who’s just starting to find their sound, the strides he’s taking reflects a legend in the making.

His new release ‘Perreo’ is just a sample platter of what Souza and his team are capable of - and after a few listens to this track and some other gems in his catalogue, it’s apparent that there are no limits to what Souza can do.

‘Perreo’ is out now on all platforms. Check it out on Spotify below:
