HabloT Brown gearing up to electrify Toronto on November 5th

MUSIC | By Wavy Vigilante

Live music in Toronto is coming back in a big way and everyone is excited about it. These past two years have been relatively dry

with so many venues being closed or operating at limited capacity; however, all signs are pointing to great things being on the horizon - one of them being the Hablot Brown show at the legendary Adelaide Hall on November 5th.

Hablot Brown is a three piece group consisting of twin brothers Austin and John Brown (production and songwriting) from Franklin, MA and completed by Linus Hablot (vocals and songwriting) from Singapore. Their sound is a mix if genres ranging from neo-soul and funk to jazz and RnB style. Their infectious grooves and soothing vocals will transport you from wherever you are to wherever you want to be. Their sound is nostalgic and live sounding yet it posesses those modern production elements that gives a new irresistible blend to their genre. They’ve been featured on Soulection, were the cover of the ‘Fresh Finds’ Spotify playlist and have been featured in tons of other massive playlists. Hablot Brown has been streamed collectively over 43 million times which is a testament to how excellent their work is. If you’re a fan of Tom Misch, Steve Lacy, or Masego, Hablot Brown is a perfect addition to your palate of vibes. A lot of their music comes from organic jam sessions between the band members so rest assured - these guys can play. If you’re looking for something to do on Saturday November 5th grab yourself a ticket and grab one more for a friend or significant other and come downtown to 250 Adelaide St W. Hablot Brown is a full serving of euphoria, nostalgia, and intimacy - and those vibes hit the hardest when they’re shared.

Here are some highlights from our exclusive interview with them regarding their creative process on their album and some inside info about our favorite song on there ‘Electric’:

What emotions were you feeling while you were making the album?

We started making this album at the beginning of lockdown so we ended up feeling like this album was the thin keeping us afloat during the whole creation of the project. Being locked down together during the process gave us a chance to really lock in as a band in a very live situation & surrounding.

What was the creative process that led to the finished product like?

We set our studio up to be able to track the whole band instead of doing everything on the computer so that definitely fueled a ton of the inspiration as we’d never done a project like that before. We also think consistency played a key role in being able to dive as deep as possible on the album, we would just be getting together every day recording and working.

How did the collaboration with Floyd Fuji on ‘Electric’ come into play?

We’ve been working with Floyd for years now and have always been writing songs with him so the collaboration was inevitable. We have so many unreleased songs in the vault with Floyd we might have to pull some out on the road for the shows.

What is the message you want listeners to take away from the album?

We think that these songs can mean a lot of different things to people, sometimes certain songs serve certain purposes in your life. But if people were to take away one message from the project it would probably be to not be so hard on yourself.

Any exclusive information/announcements you have for the VibeNextDoor (shows, upcoming releases)?

We are hitting the road touring this album as well as our old favorites from the end of October to the end of November & we can’t wait to play these new records live for yall. The set is about to be crazy. We’re also about to drop some videos and merch too so be sure to look out for all that.

Come join us at Adelaide Hall on November 5th for the show and stay tuned to the VND IG page for our exclusive ticket giveaway !
