Antoine is an Australian artist bending the rules of RnB and Hip Hop, blending the two genres to create his sound. He started rapping with his cousin from St. Louis, Missouri who lived with him in Australia when they were kids. He comes from a musically inclined family with his dad still performing to this day!
Antoine does more than rap on this track. The first half of the song he’s painting a picture of a party and the only thing in sight is the lady in the club he’s talking to. He harmonizes and takes on a more easy-going flow which gives off a smooth-talking type vibe.
The second half is a glimpse into the mind of Antoine. It’s a fast tempo verse, tastefully executed over the beat with great lyricism and wordplay. The verse is an account of emotions and feelings he has for the girl and the lavish plans he wants to make with her.
We tapped in with Antoine and this is what he had to say:
How would you describe the music you typically create nowadays?
I’d say 80% of the music we’re making is that Rap/RnB blend. Rapping on RnB tracks with smooth crooning. Then there’s that 20% where I’ll just go hip hop. Depends where my head is at, at that specific time of pen to paper. If I’m in the feels which is most of the time, I’m coming with the RnB vibes. If I’m feelin’ a lil conceited and got some energy to lay out, then I’m comin’ with the bars haha.
What is your creative process like and how did that play out on the record ?
ServidSounds sent this beat through to me, and instantly I started laying out the lyrics and melody. I always say the best tracks you make are the ones that happen the quickest. This was no exception, I had this written in 1 sitting, I think under an hour. Then comes to the recording part. Sometimes you think a track will be great, but once you record, it doesn’t give that “this is the one” feeling. But we definitely felt this was the one, and knew we had to drop
What Is The Message You Wish Listeners To Take Away From The Track?
Take the message of being free and worrying less about what people say. What may come of something. There’s too much pressure these days with social media and everything. Do things you want to do, and do it for you. Don’t do it for someone else, and don’t not do something for someone else. It’s your life baby, let your hair down.
