Raquel Illuminates the Contemporary R&B Scene with 'Wishing On Stars': An Exclusive Glimpse into Her Cosmic Sound and Inspirations.

We had a conversation with Raquel to discover more about her sources of inspiration, artistic approach, and the key message she intends to convey through her sound - this is what she shared with us:

How would you describe your sound in this new release?
I would describe my style and sound to be intentionally unique. My singing style is a cross between soft, emotive, and expressive, and I tend to oscillate between high and low notes. My music style is currently RnB/Pop and electronic. I have a lot of to-be-released tracks where I tap into my more vulnerable and emotional side, and I sing what I feel in my soul. I love to write music that evokes a sense of imagery of space, the night sky, sunsets, stars, and elements of nature to listeners, and hope to instil a sense of emotion from the imagery.

What is your creative process like, how do you feel it resonated with the music?

When I songwrite, I tend to tap into my inner emotions. I’m someone who looks at the stars at night; someone who loves the moon, sunsets, the ocean, lightning, thunder, and stormy skies. I love to reference these elements of nature into my song writing. When I write, I like to create imagery of beautiful things, and to me, nature and space are compelling and beautiful. Space and nature are my muse, so, from them I love to create art. Just prior to becoming an artist, I was mid-completing a Bachelor of Science specializing in Astrophysics, but withdrew to pursue music. In a way, when I reference space, stars, and elements of nature in my songwriting, it’s like a way of paying homage to my love of astronomy and the natural world.

What Is The Message You Wish Listeners To Take Away From The Tracks?
The message that I hope listeners will take away from my tracks is that it’s okay to be in love, and it’s also okay to be vulnerable with your love. But, if it no longer serves you, it’s just as okay to walk away.

I also want my listeners to see that it’s beautiful to feel a sense of connection to the stars, the sky, the rain, sunsets, the ocean ect. I would love to know that listeners are able to envision my lyrics as I paint a cosmic picture for them.

I hope my listeners feel uplifted and empowered when they listen to “Wishing On Stars”. I want to make music that makes you feel some type of way; music that makes you want to vibe, dance, sing, and move.
