Tunnels got me ‘Dreaming About You’ !

Tunnels is a Toronto based artist mainly known for his rapping ability and for speaking on topics that everyone goes through on a daily basis. “Dreaming About You” is a lofi track recalling that brief moment where you catch yourself daydreaming about that person you want but you can’t have. The song starts with a sonic paradise established through Talall’s silky vocals. This creates an image of beauty and comfort around the thought of that person. Tunnels then evolves the song with deep, vulnerable bars. He goes on to effortlessly express some of those thoughts we’re afraid to say out loud and admit to ourselves. The vocal riffs in the chorus will have you singing all day and might have you reminiscing.

How would you describe the music you typically create nowadays?
I typically enjoy writing and making music that is about things that people can easily relate to. But I also like painting pictures and telling stories with words. I like for the listener to feel like they are listening to a memory in a musical form in a sense. I like my music to evoke emotion.
What is your creative process like, especially in your most recent projects?
In terms of how I create my music, I typically am extremely selective with my beat selection. When I find one I like, I try to come up with some sort of concept as if I were writing a script for a movie and once I have that concept down, I start building around it and molding the lyrics to fit it.
What Is The Message You Wish Listeners To Take Away From The Tracks?
This track is supposed to be a mix of opposing emotions. It's about someone who is completely and utterly obsessed with someone else almost to an unhealthy degree, but the instrumental and the smoothness of the vocals (done by Talall) make it sound extremely romantic. I really wanted the viewer to feel as if they were infatuated. Seeing the red flags in the lyrics but not noticing the subject matter because it just sounds so soothing. The same thing happens in real life: we get so focused on trying to get that someone that we never get to see how toxic it might be to ourselves.
